Being a Servant Leader – 1 week

This week is an outstanding opportunity to learn the principles and practise the methods which develop you into a servant leader. It shifts your thinking away from ‘authority and rank’ to extracting incredible performance through being of ‘service to your people and customers’. Servant leadership transposes the same principles every business leader has of customer service, onto your people service strategies.

Using a method based learning framework, you will master four toolkits over the week:

1. Socratic Questioning;

2. Behavioural Leadership;

3. Pull Coaching, and

4. Creating total ownership in your teams.

The tools and methods you will learn are useable and useful in everyday life and the outcome of the week is both a profound new way of leading and a practical means of applying it. Consciously observing the leadership of eCALA itself, should example the nature of servant leadership ‘live’ – there is zero hierarchy in eCALA, everyone is a leader in their area of responsibility – can decide anything – and some of us are also coaches of new leaders.

The programme is led by an IPMS Global Master Trainer.

Please note that to meet the requirements of this learning programme you will need to train for full learning days Monday-Friday. You will therefore need to study through Wednesday afternoon, and, if you want to, join the Wednesday afternoon tour later in the afternoon. You will nonetheless have time to enjoy the whole eCALA experience to support your learning – massage, meditation, kayaking, snorkelling, boat trips, ‘Ted’ type talks and relaxation therapies!

Being an Innovator – 1 week

Shatter the myth that innovation is a spontaneous reaction to circumstances and a flash of utter brilliance – spend a week learning how to innovate methodically, so you can do it all the time. Using various case studies, including the eCALA Village and eCALA proposition as a simple example of innovating a learning centre, you will build your own innovation project.

Led by an IPMS Global ‘systems thinker’ you will learn the four fundamental pillars of innovation as ‘methods’, with tools that you can return to all the time. The four pillars teach you to:

1. Validate and value innovating in a particular area of personal or collective passion or interest;

2. Learn how to ‘design’ innovation into your business practice and its systems;

3. Empower all stakeholders to deliver the Innovation, and

4. Use a benefits management method to extract the promised value.

The outcome of the week is a practical means of approaching innovation as a habit and behaviour.

You will therefore need to study through Wednesday afternoon, and, if you want to, join the Wednesday afternoon tour later in the afternoon. Being A Systems Thinker – 1 week

It is for the open hearted and minded and a life changing opportunity to learn how to stand back and ‘see’ the whole system of things, to appreciate and understand how all the parts interact with one another, to discover the necessary conditions for things to work as a ‘system’ and address the root causes of challenges and how to take advantage of opportunities.

Led by an IPMS Global ‘systems thinker’, Systems Thinking is contextualised and taught practically through four toolkits over the week:

Being a Master Social Media Networker – 1 week

Social media has created an explosion of ‘contacts’ and some people live in ‘bubbles’ of constant daily/hourly/by-the-minute ‘send and respond messaging. LinkedIn has become an extension of Facebook as people pour their emotional states onto the pages. Twitter is a collective reaction to ‘big news’ and successful entrepreneurs use Instagram to promote their products brilliantly.

Additionally, entrepreneurs and employed business people attend multiple conferences and events to network and find new contacts, mostly to sell their products or improve their career opportunities, but most do not know how to do this successfully.

This week at eCALA is dedicated to teaching you to understand and to use one or more Social Media channels appropriately and effectively, as well as how to set up and run your own networking events and achieve your business and personal objectives.

Using a series of toolkits that both entice and intrigue attendees, over the week you will learn how to:

1. Understand and use the major social media channels;

2. Set up communication strategies and research projects that people want to participate in;

3. Engage with people who respond to your intended outcome; and

4. Get the Return on Effort you intended from social media channels and networking events.

Led by a ‘real’ social media expert and Google partner, the outcome of the week is a means of driving networking your way and a practical means of applying it.
